Our Learning:
"I liked learning about using magnets safely."-Amara
"I liked learning about dangers of magnets and also it was too long. "-James
"I liked gym outside practicing for the Terry Fox run."-Ibraheem
"I learned that if you put a magnet in your mouth then they could tear through your stomach."-Maha
"I liked playing with Leina, my popsicle friend."-Charlotte
"I am looking forward to my mom's birthday.  I liked doing math today."-Leina
"I liked science.  I liked learning about our magnets.I wonder if you should keep magnets away from water?"-Hope

For Discussion:
We learned about safety while working with magnets today. What are two important things to remember when working with magnets? What are the symptoms of magnets that have been ingested? What do you if someone accidentally swallows a magnet? What do YOU do if you accidentally swallowed a magnet?
There were lots of questions about what to do if an emergency happens and no adult is around & how to use the emergency function on cellular phones.

Talk about your safety plan at home!
Questions to consider:
-if your child is ever home alone, do they have access to a phone?
-does your child know how to access the emergency 911 function on cellular phones?
-do you have a few 'safe neighbors' they could go to in case of an emergency?

Important Notice:

Smile! It's Picture Day at Hawkwood School

Hello Parents/Guardians,
Picture Day is coming on Monday, September 23 to Hawkwood School.
After Picture Day, order your pictures on mylifetouch.ca using your Portrait ID and Access Code which can be found on your Picture Day order form.
We generally start with the Kindergarten students and work our way to the Grade 6s modifying the schedule as necessary for Gym and Music.  With such a large school population, we cannot accommodate special requests to reschedule an entire class, but if your child will be late or need to leave early for a Medical Appointment, we can slot him/her in individually during the course of the day (between 9:30am and 2:00pm). As an added note, Retakes will take place on November 5, 2019.
Say Cheese!
