-consonant blend: stir
-homophone "fir" and "fur"
-oddball: 'fur' due to the same sound of the homophone; and 'their' which has the /air/ sound.
Try:
word sort with short, long and oddball words
write 3 sentences using your words
draw a picture and write a sentence to go with the homophone words
Yellow:
-initial consonant blends: st, th, ch, wh, tw, sk
end consonant blends: rd, th, rt, rl, rp, st,
silent letters in whirl, twirl, swirl
oddball: 'their' which has /air/ sound instead of 'ir'
homophone: spelling words are not included, but good to know: their, there, they're
Try:
word sort by blend
write out 5 interesting sentences using your spelling words
make your own crossword puzzle!
Purple:
compound word: birthday
word endings: -ly, -ier, -ing
silent letters: twirling, swirling, whirling
oddball: heir (silent h, and has /air/ sound).
Try:
write out the root words (i.e. first + ly = firstly)
write your own story using as many spelling words as possible.
